Travel Planner: Trip Kit for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch · Jaceal LLC · Last updated 29 October 2026
Trip Kit is free, with no account of ours. Your trips live in your own iCloud account, not on a server we run, and a trip is shared only with the people you invite. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. This page explains precisely what that means.
What we collect
Nothing. Jaceal LLC receives no data from Trip Kit of any kind. We cannot see your trips, the places you save, your packing lists, your expenses, your documents, or whether you use the app at all.
What syncs through your own iCloud
Trip Kit saves what you type on your device and syncs it, through Apple's iCloud, to your other devices signed into the same Apple Account:
- Your trips, itineraries, saved places and day plans
- Packing lists, budgets, expenses and splits
- Bookings and document reminders (for a passport: the holder, the number you enter and the expiry date)
- Countries you've pinned
Receipt photographs stay on the device that took them; they are not uploaded. This sync goes to the private iCloud storage tied to your own Apple Account. It is not a server of ours, and Jaceal LLC has no access to it. Turning off iCloud for the app in iOS Settings, or not being signed into iCloud, keeps everything on the device instead.
Sharing a trip with other people
If you choose Plan this trip with someone, Trip Kit uses Apple's iCloud sharing. You pick who to invite; only people you invite can open it, and there is no public link.
- What they see: the whole trip — itinerary, places, bookings and confirmation numbers, budget and expenses, packing lists, travelers and families, document reminders and the insurance note. Receipt photos are not shared. Share a trip only with people you would show these things to.
- Who they see: Apple shows everyone on a shared trip the names (and, depending on how you were invited, the email address or phone number) of the other people on it. This comes from Apple's sharing, not from us.
- Where it lives: the shared copy is stored in the iCloud account of the person who started sharing it, and everyone invited reads and writes that copy.
- Deleting: deleting a shared trip removes it from your own devices only — everyone else keeps their copy. If you were invited, you leave the shared trip 30 days after deleting it. If you started it, the shared copy stays in your iCloud so the others can keep planning; choose Stop sharing in the sharing screen to end it for everyone (each person keeps what is already on their phone).
Trip Kit can also export a trip as a file (the same format Split & Settle opens) that you send yourself by AirDrop, Messages, Mail or Files. It goes only where you send it.
Network requests
Trip Kit works offline for anything already downloaded. It talks to a small number of outside services, and each is told the least it can be — never your name, your account, or anything that identifies you:
- Maps, places and Nearby — search, directions, walking times and place details come from Apple Maps, under Apple's privacy terms. When you use Nearby, your current position is sent to Apple Maps to find what is around you; it is not stored by the app.
- Your location — used only while the app is open, for Nearby and Plan my days. It is never saved and never sent to anyone other than Apple Maps.
- Arrival alerts — off unless you turn them on for a trip. iOS watches for the place itself and shows the note; the app keeps no record of where you've been.
- Forecasts and holidays — Open-Meteo.com is sent a destination's coordinates for weather; Nager.Date is sent a country and year for public holidays.
- Worth seeing, top picks and photos — Wikivoyage, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons are sent a city's name and the names of its sights; Wikidata is sent a city's coordinates to find well-known places near it.
- Currency conversion —
api.frankfurter.app(European Central Bank reference rates) andopen.er-api.comfor currencies it does not cover. Rates are cached on the device. - Apple's cloud model (optional, off by default) — if you turn on “Use Apple's larger cloud model” in Settings, questions you type into Ask or add, with the trip details needed to answer them, are processed by Apple Private Cloud Compute. Apple states that this data is not stored or made accessible to Apple. With it off, Apple Intelligence runs only on your iPhone, and without Apple Intelligence the app uses its own built-in rules.
- Our other apps (Settings) asks Apple's public
itunes.apple.comlookup for the current name and icon of our other apps. It carries nothing about you.
None of these involve a server of ours. We do not have one.
On your devices only
- Calendar — with your permission, Trip Kit adds your plan to your own calendar using Apple's EventKit.
- Photos — with your permission, a finished trip's recap shows photos from your library taken on those days. They are read on the device and never uploaded.
- Apple Watch — the watch app receives today's plan from your iPhone over Apple's WatchConnectivity. It does not use the internet on its own.
- Widget and Share Extension — these exchange trip data through a private folder shared only between Trip Kit's own parts on your device.
- Crash diagnostics — iOS may give the app anonymous performance and crash reports (MetricKit). They are kept on the device; we receive crash logs only if you choose to share diagnostics with app developers in iOS Settings.
What Trip Kit does not contain
No analytics or telemetry SDK. No advertising SDK or ad identifier. No crash-reporting service of our own. No social login, no account with us, and no third-party SDKs. No App Tracking Transparency prompt, because there is nothing to track.
Children
Trip Kit is a general-audience trip planner. It is not directed at children, and it collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights and deleting your data
Laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete or port the personal data a company holds about you. Jaceal LLC holds none. Settings → Delete everything removes your trips from your device and from your iCloud sync; trips you shared stay with the people you shared them with, as described above. Apple's iCloud data tools apply to anything left in your iCloud account. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date, and material changes will appear in the app's release notes.
