Travel Planner: Trip Kit for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch · Jaceal LLC

Email jacealllc@gmail.com and a person will answer. Include your iOS version and the screen you were on, and it will be answered faster.

Planning a trip with other people

On the trip page, tap Plan this trip with someone and send the invitation by Messages or Mail. Each person needs iCloud turned on and Trip Kit installed; they tap the invitation and the same trip appears on their phone. What anyone adds, changes or removes shows up for everyone the next time the app comes to the front. Anyone you invite can invite others too.

Families and groups on one trip

Add everyone under Travelers, then make families or groups there — “The Smiths”, “Grandparents”, “The golfers” — and tap who is in each. On any stop of the itinerary, Who's going sets whether it is for everyone (the default), one or more families, or a few people. The day plan labels the stops that are not for everyone, and Just mine at the top of the itinerary shows the whole group's stops plus your own. Typing “Aquarium Tuesday 10am for the Smiths” into Ask or add fills it in for you.

Deleting a shared trip

Deleting a shared trip only takes it off your phone; everyone else keeps it and can keep planning. It sits in Recently deleted for 30 days if you change your mind. If the person who started the trip drops out and deletes it, the trip carries on for everyone else. To end sharing for everyone, the person who started it chooses Stop sharing in the sharing screen; each person keeps what is already on their phone.

The invitation opened but nothing arrived

Check that both phones are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud turned on for Trip Kit (iOS Settings → your name → iCloud), and that both are on the latest version. Then pull down on the trips list to refresh. If it still does not arrive, open the trip's sharing section, expand Not arriving? Troubleshoot, and email us what it says — it leaves out other people's details.

Plan my days

Save places under Places & ideas, then tap Plan my days. It keeps each day to one part of town, walks the shortest way round, respects opening hours and puts lunch and dinner at your usual times (Settings → Your usual meal times). Nothing changes until you tap Use this plan, and Undo takes it back out in one tap. A place you add to a day without a time goes under “Time to pick”, never at a made-up hour.

Using it offline

Everything you have saved works without a signal. Before you go, the Ready for offline card in Before you go checks what you will want without data: addresses on your stops, the emergency number, your documents and an offline map.

Emergency numbers

The emergency numbers on the On the ground screen are a guide, not a guarantee — numbers change, and some countries have none on file. Confirm the local number with your hotel when you arrive. From a mobile, 112 reaches emergency services in Europe and many other countries.

Moving to a new phone

With iCloud on, your trips arrive on a new phone signed into the same Apple Account. Settings → Backup & restore also makes a file you can keep anywhere.

Deleting your data

Swipe a trip to delete it, or use Settings → Delete everything to remove all of your trips from your devices and your iCloud sync. Trips you shared stay with the people you shared them with. See the privacy policy for the details.
